The Chestnut Group is proud to announce that its community-focused initiative,
The Giving Tree, has achieved official charity status. During December, Christmas bill donations raised an impressive £17,050 for The Giving Tree, showcasing the generosity of their guests and communities. Since its establishment as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2020, The Giving Tree has raised over
£280,000 for local charities and community initiatives across Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, and Norfolk.
This significant milestone marks a new chapter in The Chestnut Group’s dedication to positively impacting the region. As an official charity, The Giving Tree will provide grants and support to local communities throughout East Anglia. Individuals and organisations can apply for these grants via the charitys website, givingtreecharity.com. Grants will be awarded quarterly, ensuring consistent and meaningful contributions to the community.
In this new phase, The Giving Tree has decided to focus primarily on tackling food poverty and supporting charities that help provide shelter—a mission that perfectly aligns with The Chestnut Group’s core values of hospitality and community care. By directing its efforts toward these pressing issues, The Giving Tree aims to create a lasting and meaningful impact on those most in need.
Key fundraising events planned for 2025 include:
The ever-popular Chestnut Cycle Safari, where participants will ride over 500km in four days, visiting and raising awareness for food banks in the region.
Pier-to-pier walks in Norfolk and Suffolk, supporting EACH (East Anglias Children’s Hospices).
A grand charity lunch across all 19 Chestnut pubs and Big Houses, with all profits going directly to The Giving Tree charity.
“The Giving Tree is now an integral part of Chestnut’s culture and values,” said Philip Turner, The Founder of The Chestnut Group and Director of The Giving Tree
“Becoming an official charity allows us to deepen our impact and continue to support the incredible organisations that make a difference in our communities.”
To date, The Giving Tree has supported numerous charities, including East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), EACH, Nourishing Norfolk, local food banks, Break, Something to Look Forward to and many more. This new phase of growth will allow even more local initiatives to benefit from its work.
